# Challenger

The *Challenger* pinball machine, introduced by D. Gottlieb & Co. in March 1971, is a rare two-player, head-to-head game, with only 110 units produced. Known for its competitive setup, *Challenger* features eight flippers and a mechanical reel display, where players face off on opposite sides of the machine. Designed by Alvin Gottlieb with artwork from Gordon Morison, this machine’s innovative design allowed for a unique gameplay experience, directly pitting players against each other in real time.
