# Pinstar

Pinstar is a short-lived pinball company started by Gary Stern that produced the 1985 Gamatron conversion kit, a retrofit for many Bally-standard four-player machines that used a Pinstar daughterboard on the Bally/Stern MPU and featured a Flight 2000–derived playfield and ball-walker design while offering pop bumpers, drop targets and 3-ball multiball; the kit’s lack of ramps, speech and alphanumeric displays limited sales and left only a handful of surviving examples today. Gamatron remains Pinstar’s best-known title among vintage pinball collectors and restoration communities, with detailed machine pages, photos and reviews documenting the conversion kit and its rarity.
