# Roy Parker

Roy “Leroy” Parker (1899–1965) was a pioneering American pinball artist renowned for his prolific output and vibrant designs. He illustrated around **290** different pinball machines, primarily for the Gottlieb company, from the late 1930s until the mid-1960s. At the insistence of Gottlieb’s founder, Parker became the exclusive artist for the company’s games during this era, giving Gottlieb machines a cohesive and iconic look. His colorful backglass and playfield art — often featuring lively characters and humorous scenes — helped elevate pinball from a mechanical novelty to an eye-catching attraction. Parker’s distinctive style and attention to detail made him one of the most influential artists in pinball history, setting a standard for game artwork that endures to this day.
