About This Theme
Fallout is a post-apocalyptic role-playing video game franchise that debuted in 1997, set in an alternate timeline where 1950s American culture and atomic age optimism persisted until nuclear war devastated the world in 2077. The series, originally developed by Interplay Entertainment and Black Isle Studios before being acquired by Bethesda Game Studios, is known for its dark humor, retro-futuristic aesthetic blending mid-century design with advanced technology, and moral choice-driven gameplay set in irradiated wastelands populated by mutants, raiders, and survivors emerging from underground vaults. The franchise has achieved significant cultural impact through critically acclaimed titles including Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4, selling millions of copies worldwide and expanding into a successful Amazon Prime television series in 2024 that introduced the property to an even broader audience.
Pinball fans had wanted a Fallout machine for years, and Stern Pinball revealed one on September 3, 2026. Keith Elwin designed it, and it comes in Pro, Premium and Limited Edition models.
The game follows the Prime Video series: players choose Lucy MacLean, the Ghoul or Maximus, with music and sound pulled from Fallout 3, Fallout 4 and New Vegas. The playfield has a working Pip-Boy, a Fat Man launcher that fires into a Wasteland shooting gallery and an inverted upper flipper, and the Premium and LE add a Vault 33 lower playfield driven by Magna-Flip magnets.
