A.M.I.

A.M.I. (Apparecchi Musicali Italiani) was an Italian pinball manufacturer based in Turin, run by Luigi Lazzaroni. The company presented its first machine, Derby, at the Enada trade show in October 1974, with production starting in January 1975.

A.M.I.'s catalog stayed small: Derby came first in 1975, followed over the next two years by Hot Race, Hard Race, West Show, Big Hunt, Navajo, The Shark, and Sprint Girl. Most were single-player electromechanical machines, though four-player versions existed for titles like Hot Race and Navajo. Backglass and playfield art on several of these, including Hard Race, is credited to Italian pinball artist Michele "Mike" Martinelli.

Gold Star, released in 1977, is the last A.M.I. machine on record, and no further titles have surfaced since.
