About

Marvel Manufacturing Company was a pinball manufacturer in Chicago, Illinois, with a shop on Milwaukee Avenue in the mid-1940s and on West Fullerton Avenue from 1948. Its pinball output began in September 1944 with Baseball and ran through Hollywood and Yankee Doodle in 1945, Catalina, Frisco and Opportunity in 1946, and Carnival, Dolly, Lightning and Oscar in 1947.

The last Marvel pinball machines came in 1948: Gold Mine, Leap-Year, Cleopatra in May and Hit Parade in July, all one-player electromechanical tables. The company did not close with them. It kept trading under the same name in Chicago for another two decades, making counter games, a coin-operated pool table, a fortune-telling vending machine and a shuffleboard, and was still advertising in the trade press in the mid-1960s.
