Pinball Adventures

Pinball Adventures traces back to a 2018 book series. Its founder, Vancouver-area entrepreneur Andrew MacBain, launched a "Pinball Adventures" series profiling figures in pinball history that October, and while promoting it at Pinball Expo 2018 in Chicago he met Romain Fontaine of Team Pinball, a small pinball design studio in Wales. The two agreed to build a machine together, and MacBain settled on a theme he already owned: Punny Factory, drawn from a children's book and T-shirt line he had published under the same name.

Team Pinball designed the game, with a playfield layout from Dave Sanders, who had previously designed Full Throttle and worked on Alien for Heighway Pinball. The Welsh studio wrote the software and built the playfields — cut from Canadian Baltic Birch — around a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and its own "Rboard" input/output system, while Pinball Adventures supplied the cabinets from Canada. Punny Factory went on public sale in April 2023, with the run capped at 120 units; 30 had already sold before the public announcement.

Pinball Adventures has since announced several follow-up titles, including Elements, Sushi Madness, Forsaken Ninja, and First Class, but as of mid-2026 none had reached retail production. Elements, first shown as a prototype at Pinball Expo, remains listed on the company's own site for a 2026 release. Alongside its machines, the company has begun selling PinBoard, a standalone control board aimed at homebrew pinball builders.
