About
Tecnoplay is a pinball manufacturer based in Serravalle, San Marino, founded around 1986 by members of the Zaccaria family — the same family behind the Bologna pinball manufacturer Zaccaria. It was run by Mauro Zaccaria, son of Zaccaria co-founder Marino Zaccaria, and operated independently of the Bologna factory, which kept producing games under the Zaccaria name and, from 1988, under a new label, Mr. Game.
Between 1987 and 1988, Tecnoplay released five solid-state machines under its own name: Scramble and X-Force in 1987, alongside Devil King, a reskin of Zaccaria's own 1986 machine Mystic Star built from the same kit with new artwork. Space Team and Hi-Ball followed in 1988.
Mr. Game's pinball business folded in bankruptcy in 1990, and the Bologna factory passed to Tecnoplay only at that point. Tecnoplay never resumed pinball manufacturing under its own name; instead it moved into distribution — importing new Stern pinball machines for the Italian market, and becoming an official reseller for Sega, Konami, Taito and other international amusement brands across Italy and San Marino — a business it still runs today from Serravalle.
