About I.D.I.

About I.D.I.
I.D.I. (International Design & Innovation) was a small Italian pinball manufacturer based in Alessandria, active from the late 1970s through the 1980s and best known for producing cost‑effective conversion kits that re‑skinned and updated older electromechanical and early solid‑state machines for European arcade operators, extending the life of Gottlieb and Bally playfields with new themes, artwork and electronics. The company’s limited catalog—highlighting titles such as Tiger Woman, Sky Warrior, Movie Masters and Ice Mania (often referenced as Ice Fever)—showcases I.D.I.’s practical approach to arcade refurbishment and niche creativity, with Sky Warrior and Ice Mania documented as conversion kits built on existing layouts. Although I.D.I. never reached large commercial scale, its rare, collectible conversion machines are valued today by European pinball enthusiasts for their distinctive artwork, multilingual sound options and inventive reuse of hardware, representing a memorable chapter in 1980s pinball history and the European coin‑op market.
