About

T.H. Bergmann & Co. was a German coin-operated amusement machine manufacturer founded in 1906 in Hamburg-Altona by Theodor Bergmann. The company built vending machines, money-operated games and, starting in 1954, jukeboxes, and under Theodor's son Ernst Bergmann it grew into one of postwar Germany's most significant coin-op manufacturers.

Bergmann built pinball machines, known in Germany as Flipper, from 1938 to 1968, producing both original designs and licensed rebuilds of American machines — including Revue, a German version of Gottlieb's Southern Belle. Its 1960 release Atlanticus was a single-player, electro-mechanical upright. The company's final pinball machine, 1968's Silver-Cup, was among the earliest head-to-head designs, with two players facing each other across the cabinet; afterward Bergmann built only coin-operated gambling machines. The business was eventually absorbed into the gaming industry's later consolidation, taken over in 2006 by the newly formed Crown Technologies and folded into Austria's Novomatic AG the following year.
