Spooky’s licensing partnership with Warner Bros. started in the late 2010s and was responsible for them getting the rights to some of the most lucrative licenses in pinball history. The “boo-tique” pinball company, fresh off the heels of Evil Dead, just announced their next machine after a teaser released last month. The company’s experimental releases and gimmicks continue with the announcement of their next Warner Bros. collaboration in Beetlejuice.

Based on the 1988 film directed by Tim Burton with music by Danny Elfman, Beetlejuice follows the story of the titular “bio-exorcist” who can only be summoned by saying his name three times; he was originally hired to rid the deceased Maitland family’s house of their new residents, the Deetzes, but winds up forming a relationship with their youngest daughter, Lydia. The horror comedy spawned an animated series (author’s note: check it out if you haven’t, it holds up well!), a musical, and a sequel released in 2024 after many years of development.

A large fanbase has discovered the Ghost with the Most over the years thanks to these spinoffs and the pinball machine hopes to appeal to these fans and perhaps bring some new fans into the fold as well.

Hype & Rumors

To say that Beetlejuice has been hyped in the pinball community would be an understatement. It’s at times bordered on over hyped territory after a lengthy teaser campaign and plenty of wink-wink-nudge-nudge hints and leaks within the content creator community over the last year or so. Things went into overdrive following the success of Spooky’s prior release, Evil Dead, and when distributors began making it known they were accepting pre-orders (and, in some cases, taking deposits) before the game was officially revealed.

Within our own Hype Index, Beetlejuice has long been a top 10 theme and currently sits in the #5 spot, sandwiched between The Goonies and a new Tron pin.

Pricing and Availability

Beetlejuice is available for purchase as of publication. However, most of the 999 officially produced units (not including some number of games made available for purchase at pinball shows in 2026) have already been pre-sold through Spooky’s distributor network. A small number of games were made available for direct purchase through Spooky as well, but by the time you’re reading this, they will already be spoken for.

Game pricing remains unchanged from their last release, with games starting at $9,999. Upgrades like a motorized Beetle-Snake topper, invisi-glass, and more are also available.

Notable Game Features

The Sandworm

The Sandworm mech is a twist on the traditional bash toy. Shoot the drop targets to gain access to the Sandworm and shoot into the Sandworm’s mouth to defeat it. The Sandworm either registers direct hits to the mech or shots to the targets hidden beneath it.

Lydia’s Camera

Roll through either inlane to light the camera targets in the center of the playfield. The camera flashes whenever the targets are lit and the shot is made.

The Afterlife Couch

Shoot the dual lift ramp to load balls onto the Afterlife Couch near the upper playfield. The couch tips over to release balls for 3-ball multiball action.

Bridge Out

Balls plunged in this game head either to the right inlane via a custom diverter, or straight to the drain depending on which way this outlane diverter is facing. Thankfully…

Magnet Save

There is a magnet below the two flippers that saves balls draining down either outlane, and flings them back into play past the lower flippers.

SpookySpeak

Beetlejuice is the first pinball machine ever to include voice controls. Announced alongside the teaser, the voice controls aren’t required to play the machine but will give owners of the machine at home an extra level of immersion with the theme. Note that SpookySpeak is only available with the purchase of the optional topper.
