Stern Fallout Pinball Machine – Is Keith Elwin's Latest TOO HARD?
Summary
Gonzo's early hands-on with Stern's Fallout Pro: praised for theme and design, but drain geometry and shot difficulty make it uncertain.
Gonzo's Pinball Flipperama presents a hands-on first look at Stern's Fallout pinball machine (Pro variant) after receiving it early from distributor Pinball Heaven. The host praises the theme immersion, spinner, vault door and multiball design while finding the shots and drain geometry difficult, leaving him undecided on whether it will become a classic. He notes he plans a side-by-side Pro vs Premium comparison video to follow.
Fallout Pinball Machine by Stern – my first impressions of Keith Elwin's latest creation! But is this Pro version simply too difficult for me? It's time to enter the Wasteland as I get my first proper look at the brand-new Stern Fallout Pro pinball machine, designed by the legendary Keith Elwin. In this video, I give you my honest first impressions of Fallout, take a detailed look at the cabinet artwork, explore the playfield layout, examine the shots and mechanisms, and talk through what I like about Stern's latest release. We'll look at some of the features that make Fallout unusual, including the interactive Pip-Boy display, Nuka-Cola bottle-cap target, inverted upper flipper and the game's connection to the Fallout TV series and Bethesda video games. Keith Elwin is responsible for some of my favourite modern pinball machines, including Jurassic Park, Godzilla and Jaws. So expectations are understandably high! Then it's time to actually play Fallout Pro — and this is where things get interesting. I really struggle to get to grips with the shots, and my first few games don't exactly go according to plan! Is Fallout a brilliant but brutally difficult pinball machine? Is it just a matter of learning Keith Elwin's latest layout? Or am I simply not very good at it? These are my genuine first impressions, not a final verdict. I'll also be producing a separate Fallout Pro versus Premium comparison video, so keep an eye out for that. Official Stern Fallout information: Let me know in the comments what you think of Fallout, particularly if you've already played the Pro. Are you finding it difficult, or have you mastered the Wasteland?
