Video

Summary

Gonzo finds Stern's Fallout Premium joyless, praising the vault door and music but rejecting the lower playfield and cannon mechanics.

Gonzo's Pinball Flipperama reviews the Stern Fallout Premium, comparing it to the Pro and concluding he found it joyless and boring despite praising the theme integration, music, and the vault door mechanism. He says the lower playfield, cannon, and upper playfield feel gimmicky to him, and he is glad he did not buy it. He notes that Keith Elwin is still a top designer and that the game may suit players who enjoy a deep rule set and the video game style of play.

I've now played both versions of Stern's Fallout pinball machine, and unfortunately the Premium hasn't changed my mind. In fact, I found myself getting bored! In this video, I give my honest review and impressions of the **Stern Fallout Premium pinball machine**, designed by Keith Elwin and inspired by the Fallout video games and hit Amazon Prime Video TV series. Having already reviewed the Fallout Pro, which I didn't particularly enjoy, I was hoping the Premium would deliver something special. After all, it includes some impressive features, including the Vault Magna-Flip lower playfield, the Fat Man launcher, an interactive Deathclaw toy and plenty of Fallout-themed artwork and mechanisms. And there's no denying that the machine looks fantastic. I love the Fallout theme, the presentation and the attention to detail. But here's the problem: I just didn't enjoy playing it. For me, the additional playfield features felt more like gimmicks than genuinely exciting gameplay additions, and I struggled to find a single shot that I absolutely loved. Despite everything going on, I never really felt compelled to play another game. Of course, pinball is subjective, and I'm sure Fallout fans will absolutely adore this machine. But having now spent time with both the Pro and Premium versions, I have to ask myself which one I'd buy. The answer? Neither I'm genuinely grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with both machines side by side, and this is simply my personal opinion after playing them. I know plenty of people will disagree! Official Stern Fallout Premium details: Pinball Heaven – UK pinball machines and accessories: Let me know in the comments what you think. Have you played Fallout Pro or Premium? Am I missing something, or do you agree that the gameplay doesn't quite live up to the incredible theme?
