Part 10: I Finally Got Back to the Getaway! | Allied Leisure Pinball Restoration Gets Interesting...
After procrastinating on my Allied Leisure Getaway project for far too long, I’m finally getting back to it! In this episode of Pinball Shenanigans, it’s time to shop the playfield, clean things up, install a fresh set of rubbers, and — hopefully — get this old machine ready for a test play. Of course, with pinball restoration, things never go completely according to plan. Along the way, there are a few surprises… including a rather interesting little pile I discover hiding in the corner of the machine. 👀 So, come along for the ride as we bring this Getaway one step closer to being back in action!
Kineticist’s take
Allied Leisure Getaway restoration progresses through playfield cleanup and initial gameplay testing with lingering electronic/mechanical issues.
Synopsis
Mike Dymus documents his ongoing restoration of a heavily deteriorated Allied Leisure Getaway pinball machine, detailing playfield cleaning, parts inventory, and initial test gameplay after electronics repairs. The restoration reveals manufacturing quirks (plastic vs. metal components), rodent damage, and multiple mechanical issues (broken drop targets, non-functional switches, flipper misalignment) requiring further diagnosis and repair.
