Nintendo Wild Gunman (1974) arcade recreation debuts at Ontario PinFest 2026
In this video, we get the chance to play a recreation of Nintendo's original Wild Gunman from 1974 at Ontario PinFest 2026 created by Callan Brown! The full details and story below: Long before the NES, the Zapper, or even Donkey Kong, Nintendo created Wild Gunman as a projection-screen shooting attraction that used real 16mm film footage of live-action gunfighters. Designed during Nintendo's early arcade era, the game challenged players to outdraw an outlaw in a classic Old West showdown using a light gun and a projected movie screen. For decades, the original Wild Gunman machines were considered some of the rarest and most elusive pieces of Nintendo history. Very few cabinets survived, and much of the original film footage was believed lost. That changed thanks to an ambitious restoration and preservation effort completed in 2026. Using surviving film reels, digitized footage, custom electronics, modern projection technology, and extensive research into the original hardware, arcade restorer Callan Brown (74XX Arcade Repair) recreated the experience of Nintendo's groundbreaking 1974 machine. The project has allowed modern audiences to experience a game that had effectively disappeared for over 50 years. At Ontario PinFest 2026, we had the opportunity to step up to the screen and see what it was like to face off against Nintendo's Wild West gunfighters just as players would have in the 1970s. If you're interested in arcade history, Nintendo's early years, rare electro-mechanical games, and video game preservation, this is a piece of gaming history you won't want to miss.

Kaneda reveals Sonic June 23rd launch and cascade of licensing/release date rumors for 2026-2027 pinball pipeline.
KNICKS BABY!!!!
There’s a strong sense of déjà vu this month as three familiar pinball titles return in new forms, as Jonathan and Martin reveal in the latest May 2026 edition of the Pinball Industry News PINcast. It was fifteen years ago that Stern Pinball released their first Transformers-based title, but the Autobots and Decepticons have returned in the new Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye game. Martin got the opportunity to play it at a trade event in London and to also talk to Gary Stern and John Buscaglia from Stern Pinball, as the company looks to cut prices and boost sales through changes to their European distribution arrangements. From one cartoon series to another, as Wonderland Amusement bring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back to pinball with the opening of preorders for their World of TMNT: Battle in the Sewer. There are two versions available and discounts for buyers of the company’s first release, along with news of game features and estimated shipping dates. The third title making a return comes from Pedretti Gaming as they confirm Tales of the Arabian Nights as their next remake game. There’s also news of another remake title they were developing before that particular project ran into problems. Martin also visited the first Austrian Pinball Festival where, besides hosting a prize quiz, he also recorded talks given by Harry Potter designer, Eric Meunier, Hexa Pinball’s Alice Lemoine, and homebrew evangelists Aaron Davis of FAST Pinball and Brian Savage of Mission Pinball Framework fame. Find out where you can see them. Eric also took time out from the show to share his favourite go-to recipe, which he shares with us in the latest edition of What’s Cooking? with… May was also the month for the Licensing Expo show in Las Vegas, where representatives from several pinball companies could be found exploring potential new game themes.

About the Winchester Mystery House The real Winchester Mystery House is a famous mansion located in San Jose, California. Built by Sarah Winchester, widow of firearms magnate William Wirt Winchester, the house became known for its bizarre architecture, including stairways leading nowhere, hidden passages, secret doors, and hundreds of rooms. Legend says Sarah believed she was haunted by spirits and continuously expanded the mansion for decades to appease them. While much of the ghost story remains folklore, the house has become one of America's most famous paranormal landmarks and serves as the inspiration for this pinball machine's spooky theme and supernatural atmosphere.
