About Allied Leisure Industries Inc.
Allied Leisure Industries Inc. was an American coin‑operated game manufacturer founded in late 1968 by Ron Haliburton and David Braun in Florida, originally producing novelty amusements before pivoting to pinball and establishing in‑house design and production in Hialeah. Known for experimental 1970s pinball innovations, Allied introduced upright “shakerball” cabinets such as Sea Hunt and Spooksville (1972) that allowed players to tilt the entire playfield and released Rock On (1975), recognized among the earliest solid‑state pinball machines, demonstrating a willingness to explore new electronics and unconventional form factors. The company also produced compact cocktail‑style tables like Take Five (1978) aimed at bars and casual settings, but repeated manufacturing and reliability issues limited commercial traction and profitability. After mounting financial difficulties, Allied’s pinball division was restructured and the firm was rebranded as Centuri in 1979 to focus on the booming video arcade market, and Allied no longer produces pinball machines today.
