About Alvin G. and Company
Alvin G. and Company, founded in 1991 in Wheeling, Illinois by Alvin Gottlieb and Michael Gottlieb, was a short-lived pinball manufacturer that aimed to revive the Gottlieb family’s design legacy in the early 1990s. Standing out in a competitive era dominated by Williams, Data East and Bally, the company released a small roster of inventive titles—A.G. Soccer-Ball (A.G. Football export), Al's Garage Band Goes on a World Tour, Mystery Castle and others—that combined classic Gottlieb-style mechanics with bold, theme-driven artwork and experimental play features. A.G. Soccer-Ball (1991) delivered head-to-head sports-style gameplay, Al's Garage Band (1992) showcased lively, music-themed visuals, and Mystery Castle (1993) became notable among collectors for its distinctive spooky theme and low production rarity, making Alvin G. machines desirable vintage pinball pieces for restorers and enthusiasts. Despite creative design and a clear homage to the Gottlieb tradition, Alvin G. and Company ceased operations in 1994 amid difficult market conditions, leaving a compact but enduring catalog of rare 1990s pinball machines that continue to attract collectors and vintage pinball aficionados.
