First Look: They Actually Made a Sonic the Hedgehog Pinball Machine!?
RetroRalph tours Jersey Jack's Sonic the Hedgehog pinball factory ahead of launch.
Sonic the Hedgehog is officially entering the world of pinball, and today we’re going behind the scenes at Jersey Jack Pinball to check out their brand-new Sonic the Hedgehog pinball machine. As a lifelong Sonic fan and a pinball nerd, this one hits hard. Jersey Jack Pinball invited me out to the factory for a closer look at the game, the design, the team behind it, and what makes this machine feel so fast, fun, and uniquely Sonic. This game is designed by Steve Ritchie, known by many as the king of flow, and you can feel that DNA immediately. Sonic the Hedgehog pinball is fast, combo-heavy, loaded with shots, and built around that classic Sonic feeling of always moving forward. From the main playfield to the giant upper playfield, the game is packed with speed, flow, loops, ramps, ring collecting, boss battles, chaos emeralds, multiballs, and a ton of fan service for Sonic players. In this video, we take a look at the Sonic pinball gameplay, the upper playfield, the magnetic accelerator loop, the ring mechanics, Chaos Emerald Multiball, the cabinet artwork, the Collector’s Edition, Special Edition, and Arcade Edition, plus a behind-the-scenes look at the Jersey Jack Pinball factory floor as Sonic machines are being built. Whether you’re a pinball collector, a Jersey Jack Pinball fan, a Steve Ritchie fan, or someone who grew up playing Sonic the Hedgehog on SEGA Genesis, this game has a lot to be excited about. Sonic is all about speed, and this game absolutely captures that feeling from the moment the ball leaves the shooter lane. Gotta go fast. Looking for more Pinball Content?
