Bon Jovi Pinball Machine – My First Impressions! | Barrels of Fun

From the creator

I finally got my hands on the brand-new Bon Jovi Pinball from Barrels of Fun — so it's time for a proper first look! In this video I take you around the entire machine, looking at the cabinet, artwork and playfield before getting some games in and giving you my first impressions. And I can probably spoil the ending right now: I really liked it. Bon Jovi is the fourth pinball machine from Barrels of Fun, following Labyrinth, Dune and Winchester Mystery House, and it's their first music-themed game. The game was designed by David van Es, with rules from Phil Grimaldi and Jess DeNardo, code by Eric Priepke and artwork by Jonathan Bergeron. And they've certainly packed plenty into it. The game features 17 Bon Jovi songs spanning the band's career, including Livin' on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name, Wanted Dead or Alive, Bad Medicine, Runaway, It's My Life, Always and Keep the Faith, accompanied by live concert footage and music videos. There's also some seriously interesting pinball engineering: the Heart & Dagger magnetic ball catch and three-level diverter, the physical Steel Horse three-ball lock, a Crowd Surf mini-flipper designed to rescue balls from the left outlane, magnetic ball control, Lightning Flippers and an ingenious loop-the-loop captive ball with a spinner inside. Even the apron gets involved, with a faux tape deck, VU meter and motorised faders which move with the music, while the lighting and upgraded audio system are designed to give the whole thing the feel of a Bon Jovi concert. So join me as I have my first proper look around Bon Jovi Pinball, play a couple of games and find out whether Barrels of Fun have managed to turn four decades of Bon Jovi into a great pinball machine. Spoiler: I think they've done a cracking job. Let me know what you think of Bon Jovi Pinball in the comments — and if you've played one already, I'd love to know what you made of it. Synopsis

Gonzo from Gonzo's Pinball Flipperama plays Barrels of Fun's new Bon Jovi pinball machine for the first time in the UK, providing early hands-on impressions. He praises the game's design elements including a lower flipper for outlane saves, lighting rig, and accessible ramp shots, comparing it favorably to Aerosmith while noting it's easier and more fun than Barrels of Fun's other recent releases like Labyrinth and Dune.
