The T-Rex Changes Everything | Stern Jurassic Park Pinball Machine

Video

Summary

Gonzo praises Stern's Jurassic Park T-Rex mechanism, prefers original sound over movie code, and plans custom mods.

Gonzo, a Jurassic Park pinball owner on his third Stern premium copy, shares his enthusiasm for the T-Rex mechanism and the original sound package, which he prefers over the movie code update. He outlines custom mods including mirrored backglass, airbrushing, and a signed apron card, and records a gameplay session that is struggling but ends with a T-Rex shot.

From the creator

This is the third time I’ve owned Stern’s Jurassic Park pinball machine—but my first time living with the Premium, and it genuinely feels like a new game. The T-Rex might be one of the best mechanisms in modern pinball. It fits the theme perfectly, creates genuine drama and has helped me appreciate just how carefully Keith Elwin’s Jurassic Park was designed. I’ve also tried the unofficial movie code—and removed it again. The original animations, callouts and sound effects are so precisely timed with the gameplay that, for me, they create more atmosphere than the film clips. Jurassic Park is difficult, occasionally cruel, but rarely unfair. Hit the correct shots and the game rewards you; miss them and you accept the consequences. I’m currently chasing my first billion-point score and will be recording that journey as the machine gradually changes. Plans include a mirrored backglass, new T-moulding, custom airbrushing, blades and several other modifications before hopefully displaying the completed machine at Pinfest. Let me know what you would change—and whether you prefer Stern’s original presentation or the Jurassic Park movie code.
