Pinball Shenanigans

The Mystery Switch Glitch! Data East Time Machine Part 5

Video

Summary

Pinball Shenanigans fixes a fuse and trough switch on his Data East Time Machine but hits an MPU-level switch glitch.

Mike Dimas of Pinball Shenanigans, in episode 5 of his Data East Time Machine restoration series, reports resolving a general illumination problem caused by an incorrect 5-amp fuse in an XPin power supply (a 20-amp fuse is needed). He then fixes a bent trough switch actuator and finds an unresolved MPU-related glitch where every switch triggers the same win-game callout and general illumination animation, which he suspects is an MPU fault. A new MPU is on order.

💡 **THE LIGHTS ARE BACK… BUT NOW I'VE GOT A WEIRD SWITCH GLITCH!** 😱 Welcome back to **Pinball Shenanigans** and Episode 5 of the **Data East Time Machine**! The mystery of the missing lights is FINALLY solved! 🎉 This time, I had some expert help when **Corey Cooke of London Pinball and his son Mason** came by to lend a hand and get me out of trouble. They came to the rescue, tracked down the problem, and got the general illumination (GI) lights back up and running! And the best part? As usual, the problem was ME! 😂 With the lights shining again, it's time to move on to the next stage of the restoration: checking out the solenoids and switches. Surely things should be straightforward from here, right? **WRONG!** 🤣 While testing the switches, I run into a VERY unusual problem that I'm calling the **SWITCH GLITCH**. It's something I've never encountered before, and it's definitely got me scratching my head! So, pinball troubleshooters, I need your help! 🔎 **WHAT DO YOU THINK IS CAUSING THE SWITCH GLITCH?** 🎯 Is it something on the PLAYFIELD? 🧠 Is the MPU board acting up? 🤦‍♂️ Or is it ME AGAIN?!
