Video

Summary

Mike Dymus repairs a Data East Time Machine's blown transistors and solenoids, but the episode ends with GI lighting still unsolved.

Mike Dymus (Pinball Shenanigans) continues restoring a Data East Time Machine in his basement, covering blown transistors (Q4 on the PPB board and a replacement of Q23 on the MPU), repinned special solenoid connectors, and a kickback coil replacement. The episode ends unresolved, with a general illumination (GI) short still under investigation after he posted for help in a repair group. A Gilligan's Island machine was sold during the session.

It's time to take the **Data East Time Machine** out of the garage and into the basement for the full Pinball Shenanigans treatment! 🔧🎰 Working on this beast in the garage was getting old, so I hauled it downstairs to give myself some room to work. After all, nothing says *relaxing hobby* quite like dragging a giant, heavy pinball machine through your house! With the Time Machine settled into its new home, it's time to get down to business. I repin a few connectors, replace a blown transistor, and get everything hooked back up. Then comes the moment of truth… **Did I fix the problems, or did I create several exciting new ones?** 😂 Thankfully, most of the machine seems to be working! But there's just one little problem… 💡 **ALL THE GENERAL ILLUMINATION HAS DISAPPEARED!** 💡 Yep. The game is mostly alive, but the playfield and backbox lighting have apparently decided they're on vacation. Now I have a new mystery to solve, and I'm racking my brain trying to figure out where all those missing volts have gone. Join me for another episode of Pinball Shenanigans as I tinker, troubleshoot, scratch my head, and attempt to get this Data East Time Machine one step closer to being a fully functioning pinball machine. Will I get the lights back on, or will this machine send me back in time to when I thought pinball repair was a good idea? 🤔 There's only one way to find out! And if you've ever chased an electrical gremlin through a pinball machine, let me know in the comments. Misery loves company!
