What a week it’s been — and there’s no sleep till Brooklyn! We’ve dug deep, both emotionally and literally into the pinball archives to deliver the next mod in our TPF mod-a-thon: the Lord of the Rings Ultimate Balrog! This mod has been a very, very long time coming — like, pre-Tokyo Neon long time. Like, love-you-long-time long time. I’m mega happy to finally get him over the line, alongside none other than my good pal Paul Jazzbouche (Mojo Mods), in strong collaboration support. I’m betting you’ll notice his metaphorical fingerprints all over it. Enjoy! * Massive, high-detail, transparent resin, hand-painted sculpt * 3 × independently lit and triggered internal RGB LED strips * 3 × independently lit and triggered ‘whip’ LED strips (100 LEDs each). Custom-built, miniature, not available in shops, and dope beyond all hell * Turns on and off when the game activates him * Triggers a ‘HIT’ light pattern when bashed * 100% configurable via the Stumblor Mod App (colours, patterns, triggers!) Stern CPO Seth Davis discusses pinball development complexity and Pokémon machine European debut.
Untold Pinball Stories – Episode: Seth Davis At the Dutch Pinball Museum, we believe pinball is more than machines. It’s about people. Stories. Legacy. In this episode of Five Minutes to Tilt, we sit down with Seth Davis, CEO of @sternpinballinc for a fast, honest, five-minute story. Timed with a real kitchen timer. No script. No second takes. Just one story. Seth says he grew up in an 80’s arcade. Surrounded by flashing lights, video games, and the unmistakable sound of pinball machines. His path to Stern didn’t start in pinball. It started at Disney, before eventually leading him to the world’s largest pinball manufacturer. As a lifelong gamer, he explains why pinball still stands above everything else. He talks about the culture inside Stern Pinball, where employees are encouraged to play every day. Fifteen minutes of pinball is not a distraction. It’s part of the job. He also reflects on the impressive collection of machines inside the Stern building, and on the excitement surrounding the new Pokémon pinball machine. A story about games. About passion. And about why pinball still matters in a world full of screens. This series is our way of preserving the voices behind the silverball. Because pinball history doesn’t only live in backglasses and playfields. It lives in people. Enjoy the story. Recorded by the Dutch Pinball Museum, Rotterdam Five minutes. One untold story.

Happy TPF Week, folks! We continue our mod-a-thon in this most hallowed of pinball weeks by humbly introducing our next mod - the Pokémon Card Blaster! This device sits in the bill acceptor slot on your coin door and automatically dispenses a Pokémon trading card whenever a certain achievement occurs in the game, like winning an extra ball (although this is configurable). So if - like me - your parenting style is 90% rewards-based bribery, rejoice! Continue that trend, reinforce those dopamine hits, and absolutely do not question the long-term consequences. * Motor-driven card dispenser unit with interchangeable card size options * Professional-grade nylon front face (not home printed PLA) * Edge-lit animated “neon” LED strip, which triggers when a card is dispensed * Lamp-sensing daughterboard with FULL Stern Spike lamp sensing capability (even on PCB-based lamps) * 100% configurable via the Stumblor Mod App (colours, patterns, triggers!) * Super easy, 10-minute install - faster than it will take you to find Pokémon cards! Although we’re launching this with Pokémon in mind, it’s fully compatible with any SPIKE pinball machine. We’ll also be teaming up with TEP Pinball shortly to explore ways to make this even more compelling for arcade owners. More info at
