American Pinball is a pinball manufacturer founded at the end of 2015 in Streamwood, Illinois, a Chicago-area suburb, by Dhaval Vasani and backed by his family's electronics manufacturing business, Aimtron. The company's first move was a partnership with designer John Popadiuk: American Pinball would produce his Houdini design, and in exchange its factory built Magic Girl machines for Popadiuk's Zidware. Popadiuk's Houdini was ultimately deemed unplayable and scrapped, and a new design by Joe Balcer became American Pinball's actual debut, Houdini: Master of Mystery, released in late 2017.
More titles followed: Oktoberfest: Pinball on Tap in 2019, a Hot Wheels machine that shipped in June 2020 after COVID-19 pushed back its planned spring release, and Legends of Valhalla, designed by Riot Pinball LLC and announced in October 2021. The company moved from Streamwood to a larger facility in nearby Palatine, Illinois, alongside a new Aimtron manufacturing operation, and unveiled Galactic Tank Force in March 2023. Its sixth release, Barry O's Barbecue Challenge (2024), was built from a playfield design started by designer Barry Oursler, who had joined American Pinball shortly before his death in February 2022.
By late 2024, most of American Pinball's design and engineering staff had been laid off and a planned licensed game based on the video game Cuphead was shelved unfinished. In January 2026, parent company Aimtron sold American Pinball's assets to JB Vincent LP, a Texas-based investment firm led by J. Bryan Vincent. The new ownership moved quickly, signing a licensing deal with Planetary Pinball Supply for reimagined Williams and Bally titles and naming Melvin Brouwer-Williams, formerly of Dutch Pinball Exclusive, as creative director to lead game design going forward.
