Pulp Fiction owners will finally be able to get their games online in November. Play Mechanix Pinball and Scorbit announced today that the upcoming v1.03 code release adds Scorbit functionality to the game, and that a $99.99 Online Upgrade Kit will provide the hardware to connect it.
Online play was on the feature matrix when Chicago Gaming Company, which builds the game, revealed Pulp Fiction in March 2023. It was listed then as "CoinUp Online Connectivity." Three and a half years later, Scorbit is bringing it to market.
Connected games send scores to the newly refreshed Scorbit app, where players can track their games and check live leaderboards. Operators can also accept cashless payments alongside traditional coin drop, run tournaments, and host head-to-head matches.
George Petro, president of Play Mechanix, said Scorbit "stood out among the rest" when the company went looking for a way to add online play, pointing to how many games it already supports.
"Pulp Fiction Pinball has a devoted following, and we're excited to bring these players onto the Scorbit platform," said Scorbit CEO Jay Adelson.
The Online Upgrade Kit
The kit is $99.99 plus shipping and comes with:
- A Scorbit tap pad and cables
- A microSD card with the v1.03 code
- A Pulp Fiction Pinball Collector's Edition T-shirt
Kits ship in November. Play Mechanix will contact owners who already requested a kit this week to confirm their orders and take payment. Everyone else can order through Play Mechanix's kit form.
What Else Is in Pulp Fiction v1.03
Beyond Scorbit, v1.03 includes:
- Higher scoring for most shots in Briefcase Boogie and Pawn Shop Panic (Red Lock 1 goes from 15 to 50)
- Lower scoring for BMF Wallet targets, from 6,000+ to 5,000+
- Tilt warnings that follow the TILT WARNING adjustment again
- No bonus advance from the flipper return lanes
- No extra bonus advance for completing P-U-L-P
- Fixes for the right saucer, HOLD CAST and bonus units in attract mode
The code goes up on Chicago Gaming's update page in November.
