FULL LED UPGRADE! Switch Surgery Is COMPLETE! Data East Time Machine Part 8

Video

Summary

Pinball Shenanigans restores a 1988 Data East Time Machine: switch surgery done, playfield fully LED'd, plastics still pending.

Mike Dymus of Pinball Shenanigans documents part 8 of restoring a 1988 Data East Time Machine, covering cleaning and reinstalling drop target banks with trimmed target foam, a Kevin-serviced switch surgery, full LED conversion of the playfield, and reinstalling metal lane guides, a oneway gate, and a replacement label. He notes Dave Still Pinball.com's upcoming sale visit in Ontario and that replacement playfield plastics are still on order, so the restoration is paused. The episode is an informal personal build log rather than industry news.

πŸ’‘ **IT'S GETTING BRIGHT IN HERE! AND FOR ONCE, THINGS ARE ACTUALLY GOING RIGHT!** πŸ˜‚ Welcome back to **Pinball Shenanigans** and Episode 8 of the **Data East Time Machine**! This episode is all about making some serious forward progress on this Data East pinball restoration. No major disasters, no mysterious electrical gremlins (well, not today anyway), and thankfully, very little opportunity for me to make things worse! First up, the machine gets the FULL LED TREATMENT! πŸ’‘ Every light gets upgraded, and the results are looking AMAZING! The playfield is really starting to come alive, and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out. There's just one small problem... **I RAN OUT OF LEDs!** 🀣 Apparently, my original stash wasn't quite enough, so I've had to order another couple of hundred. Who knew restoring a pinball machine would turn into a full-time LED purchasing addiction? But that's not all! Remember the switch surgery Kevin performed? Well, I finally get my switch back from Kevin, and it's time to put everything back together. I remove all the switch banks, give them a good cleanup, install fresh target foam, straighten everything out, and get them looking sharp before reinstalling them in the machine. And WOW! They look damn good! Between the freshly refurbished switch banks and the new LEDs, this machine is starting to look like a proper pinball machine again. ### πŸ”§ What's happening in Episode 8? πŸ’‘ Full LED conversion of the machine. πŸ”§ Getting my switch back after Kevin's switch surgery. 🧹 Removing and cleaning all the switch banks. 🎯 Installing new target foam. πŸ› οΈ Straightening, refurbishing and reinstalling the switches. ✨ Admiring how fantastic everything looks! πŸ“¦ Ordering another couple hundred LEDs because apparently, I don't know when to stop! It's nice to have an episode where the progress outnumbers the problems for a change! A HUGE THANK YOU to Kevin for performing the switch surgery and getting that switch back in shape.
