Pokémon Pinball is Finally Here and It's Not What I Expected

From the creator

Pokémon Pinball by Stern Pinball is officially here, and I attended Stern’s Media Day at the factory to get hands-on with the machine. This brand-new Stern Pinball release, co-designed by Jack Danger and George Gomez, brings the biggest entertainment IP in the world to modern pinball, and expectations could not be higher. In this video, I break down my full experience playing Pokémon Pinball at Stern HQ, including my first impressions of the layout, shot flow, gameplay speed, and overall design philosophy. Is this Stern Pinball’s next massive hit? Did they build something special here? • Gameplay, flow, and shot layout • Pro vs Premium vs LE differences • Accessibility for new players vs depth for enthusiasts • Theme integration and use of the Pokémon license • Early code impressions and replay value • How it compares to recent Stern releases If you’re interested in Pokémon Pinball, Stern Pinball news, new pinball machine reviews, or the latest Pro / Premium / LE breakdowns, this video is for you. Let me know in the comments — is Pokémon Pinball going to be a huge success? Special thanks to @erikaspinballjourney, she nailed it in the intro! Kineticist’s take

TL;DR

Retro Ralph previews Pokémon Pinball at Stern launch event, calling it accessible yet deep with strong location and collector potential.

Synopsis

Retro Ralph attends Stern Pinball Pokémon Pinball launch media event in Chicago, providing hands-on impressions of the Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition machines. He highlights the game's approachable design balanced with depth for enthusiasts, praises the wide shots and flow mechanics, and notes the inclusion of 180 Pokémon in the Insider Connected app. Ralph concludes the game is accessible, fun, and well-positioned for location play and home collectors alike, despite being surprised by its appeal given his lack of Pokémon nostalgia.
