I LOVE This Pinball Machine… But It’s Leaving! Tales of The Arabian Nights

From the creator

I’ve now had the Tales of the Arabian Nights pinball machine for three weeks and put somewhere close to 100 games on it — so has the honeymoon period worn off? Not at all. I absolutely love this machine. In this video I give my updated thoughts on Pedretti Gaming’s Tales of the Arabian Nights remake, take a look at the latest code and improved animations, and show you some gameplay now that I properly understand how the game works. Pedretti have already addressed one of the issues I mentioned in my first video, adding software control over the ball kick-out strength. There are still one or two things I’d like to see improved, but overall this has been a hugely impressive step forward from FunHouse. Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give it is that it’s got my daughter playing pinball regularly. She’s learning the rules, collecting the jewels and trying to rescue the princess — and suddenly pinball has become something we're playing together as a family. So why, if I like it this much, is it leaving? With White Water and Attack From Mars already in my collection, something has to give as I freshen up the games in the cave. That doesn’t make saying goodbye to this one particularly easy. A massive thank you to Pinball Heaven, sponsors of Gonzo’s Pinball Flipperama, for sending the machine down, and to Pedretti Gaming for giving me early access to the updated code. More pinball machine reviews, gameplay, collection updates and plenty more coming soon — including a side-by-side look at Stern Fallout Pro and Premium. Let me know in the comments: would you keep Tales of the Arabian Nights in your collection? Hashtags Donate to help the channel here: 👇👇👇

Kineticist’s take

TL;DR

Gonzo loves Tales of Arabian Nights but notes flaw with scoop kick-out; praises Padetti's quality improvement.

Synopsis

Gonzo provides a detailed follow-up review of Padetti's Tales of the Arabian Nights 30th anniversary remake after 50-100 plays, praising the gameplay quality and accessibility while noting the significant improvement from Padetti's earlier Funhouse remake. He received early access to updated code with new animations and discusses both strengths (kid-friendly rules, engaging gameplay) and a specific mechanical flaw (Make-a-Wish scoop occasionally kicking the ball straight down the middle), which he hopes Padetti will fix in future updates.
