It has finally happened – the BIG 100! Yes – after almost eight (8!!!) years of classic arcade and pinball goodness, we’ve hit a podcasting milestone and we are so glad to be able to share this very special episode with our listener family. This episode is a bit of a break from the norm – in that after our gameroom and hobby updates (which are brief this time around) we jump straight into the heart of the show and reminisce a good bit about the past 8 years under the umbrella of the BT brand and what it has meant to us. We talk about our most memorable experiences with doing the show, discuss our top 3 favorite interviews over the past 99 episodes and even dig into our favorite show tropes that have taken on a bit of a life of their own since we first released episode 1 back in September 2013… yes… 2013…. amazing. We also discuss some thoughts for some future plans for the show, and discuss how we can better involve you in the show community. As a special treat, we are also re-running two of our favorite interviews from the prior years. Le moins qu'on puisse dire c'est que Spooky Pinball, un fabricant familial du Wisconsin, nous a surpris. La manufacturier vient d'annoncer le lancement commercial de deux flippers en même temps! Les thèmes? Halloween, basé sur le film de John Carpenter de 1978, et Ultraman, une série TV japonaise des années 1960, l'ancêtre des Bioman, Power Rangers et autres X-Or. Les plateaux des flippers s'annoncent généreux en toys, créatifs, déstructurés, notamment avec cet empilement de upper-playfields (des mini-plateaux de jeux au-dessus du plateau principal). Un flipper original, et a priori robuste, car Spooky est connu pour la qualité et la solidité de ses machines. Mais là où la surprise est de taille: les deux flippers sont strictement identiques! L'un est un "skin" de l'autre, une adaptation visuelle d'un même plateau. Un choix étrange, qui nous laisse perplexes... En tous cas, cette année 2021 s'avère un excellent cru pour la communauté du flip': The Mandalorian, Alien, et maintenant Halloween. Un beau triplé! Seul Lazarus préfère le thème Ultraman, on le lui laisse:)
