Skill shot – either plunge the lit top lane or hold in the left flipper and make any shot for a super skill shot. The top lanes are preferred as bumpers will help spawn Pokémon and progress towards rival battle.
Story modes - shoot any character's ramp / orbit shot 3 times to start a story mode. Complete each story mode by making the captive ball when lit, and light shot multipliers with each story mode completed. Play all four to light Pikachu vs. Charizard at the right ramp.
Bulbasaur – shoot the major shots for pollen awards. Center berry target relights major shots. 6 lit shots to light captive ball.
Squirtle – left ramp spins the whirlpool; other shots increase the multiplier on the next left ramp shot. 3 left ramps to light captive ball.
Pikachu – 2-ball multiball. Shoot lit shots for jackpots and light the captive ball for super jackpot (2x with a strong shot). 3 super jackpots to complete.
Charmander – shoot the right orbit for spinner jackpot; other shots increase the jackpot multiplier. 100 spins to light captive ball.
Rival battles - shoot the bumpers to spawn a Pokémon that can be scanned with a captive ball shot. Then hit the purple shots to spell CATCH and light the left ramp to capture it. Once captured, shoot the town scoop to start rival battle. Hit the flashing shots during rival battles to deal damage and light the center lane for faint jackpot based on how many opponent Pokémon your party has defeated.
Team Rocket multiball – spell BATTLE by shooting the center targets, then make 3 hits to the lowered Meowth balloon to light the center lane for multiball play. Left / right ramps and balloon score jackpots. Score 6 jackpots and hit the center lane for super jackpot, light a shot multiplier, and start 20 seconds where all shots score unlimited super jackpots. Spell BATTLE during multiball to light the action button add-a-ball.
2x playfield – complete the berry standup targets near the left ramp and Pokédex captive ball to start 2x scoring for 20 seconds. Keep hitting the targets during 2x playfield to extend the timer.
