Steven talks about Deeproot Pinball's unreleased Space Cadet-inspired project designed by Barry Oursler, shares the story behind designing Barry O's Barbecue Challenge as a tribute to the late Barry Oursler, and breaks down his math-brained, come-from-behind win on Twilight Zone at District 82. We also get into diversity in competitive pinball, women in the scene with Bells and Chimes, and the story behind Steven's t-shirt.
NEW TRANSFORMERS TOPPER MODE: GHOST IN THE MACHINE! Okay… this is pretty damn cool! If you have the Optimus Prime topper, there’s an exclusive Ghost In The Machine Mode where the game basically decides it’s had enough of you beating the crap out of it and starts fighting back. Ghost takes control of your flippers, steals your balls, and it’s up to you to regain control and put him back in his place. Hit the green shots, add balls, use the Action Button to fight back, and complete all 10 shots to beat Ghost at his own game. Check it out... Big shoutout to Elizabeth Gieske for continuing to bring us all these fun, creative new game modes!

Fallout pinball praised as Elwin's best; media day logistics criticized.
The highly anticipated Fallout pinball machine from Stern Pinball is finally here, and I’ve played it! In this episode of The Flipside, we break down Keith Elwin’s latest creation and ask the big question: Could Fallout be his greatest pinball machine ever? Stern opened the wallet and gave the team the freedom to build one of its most ambitious and feature-packed games to date. Does that make Fallout worth the higher price? Could it also change what players expect from future Stern Pinball releases? More importantly, could this machine inspire pinball fans to explore the Fallout universe while bringing Fallout fans into pinball? We also need to have an honest conversation about Stern’s Media Day. A few things happened that made me question whether Stern should restructure the event, establish clearer expectations for attendees and do more to keep the focus on media access instead of allowing it to become someone’s personal pinball tournament. Was Stern Media Day a bust? Is Fallout Keith Elwin’s best game ever? Does this release set a new standard for Stern Pinball? Let me know what you think in the comments and whether you would choose the Fallout Pro, Premium or Limited Edition or if this one is a “pass” for you. LOOKING FOR A NEW OR USED PINBALL MACHINE? RetroRalph's hands-on Fallout pinball impressions: ambitious Keith Elwin design packed with mechs, deep IP integration, and justified price increase.
Fallout Pinball is finally here! ☢️ I had the chance to head out to Stern Pinball and get an up-close look at Fallout, the latest game from legendary designer Keith Elwin. In this video, I’m breaking down everything you need to know about Fallout Pinball - the layout, toys, mechs, artwork, rules, Pro vs. Premium vs. LE differences, and plenty of gameplay. I’ll also give you my first impressions after seeing and playing the game in person. Fallout brings together the worlds of the hit TV series and Bethesda’s legendary video game franchise, letting you experience the wasteland through Lucy MacLean, The Ghoul, or Maximus. Along the way you’ll battle wastelanders, build your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. abilities, hack terminals with your Pip-Boy, explore Vault-Tec and discover a ton of Fallout references packed throughout the game. Stern worked directly with Kilter Films and Bethesda Game Studios to bring the Fallout universe to pinball, incorporating characters, locations, footage and elements from both the television series and video games. But the big question… Did Stern Pinball and Keith Elwin nail Fallout? ☢️ Let’s head into the wasteland and find out. Fallout Pinball is available in Pro, Premium and Limited Edition models. Let me know what YOU think of Fallout Pinball in the comments. Which model would you choose?

Stern Fallout (Keith Elwin) impresses with unique mechanics and theme integration despite higher pricing.
I went to @s@sternpinballincthe Fallout Pinball launch and got some time with the game. The next Elwin title has a lot going on, so lets talk about that. I grew up playing Fallout 1 and 2... so this was a title I was incredibly curious about. As someone pretty indifferent about the show I'm pleased at the balance between the game and the series. Grand Lizard vs. James Bond 007: Two Battles, Zero Surrender! 🦎🔫 In this episode of Pinball Shenanigans, I head back to the garage for yet another battle with the mighty Grand Lizard! The good news? I FINALLY figured out my sound problem! 🥳 The bad news? The problem was me. Again. 😂 Thankfully, Grand Lizard is now making noise once more, and somehow I managed to fix the problem without blowing up anything else. Progress! Next up, the battle continues with the mysterious locked on flasher issue. I bust out the multimeter, fire up my logic probe, and start poking around chips like a man who is mostly sure he knows what he's doing. I'm still learning how to use the logic probe, but so far... nothing has exploded that I'm aware of! Then it's time to visit my old friend, Gottlieb James Bond 007. Unfortunately, James Bond apparently doesn't want to cooperate either. Fuses are blowing, bridge rectifiers need testing, power supply voltages are being checked, and 007 continues to resist all attempts at diplomacy. So the battles continue... 🦎 Grand Lizard: Sound fixed! Flasher still fighting back. 🔫 James Bond 007: Blowing fuses and refusing to cooperate. 🔧 Me: Armed with a multimeter, a logic probe, and questionable confidence. Two machines. Two battles. One stubborn pinball repair guy. I'm not giving up yet! If you enjoy pinball repairs, troubleshooting, classic machines, electronics diagnostics, and watching me occasionally discover that I caused the problem myself, you're in the right place!
Pinball News's Mick Brown visited Stern Pinball's Media Open House for the launch of their new Fallout pinball. He recorded the presentation introduced by the game's lead designer, Keith Elwin and brings it to us here.
